So, we have been continuing to learn more and improve more in our science class. Well, you might already know that fifth graders have been learning about newtons laws of motion. Todays assignment is to learn newtons 3 laws and how the laws connect or work with our catapults that we bave been working on in our classroom. So the first newton law is : - An object that is in motion STAYS IN MOTION, unless it is acted upon a force. -An object that is at rest,STAYS AT REST. An example might be a soccer ball.If you kick the ball with force, then The ball would be in motion. And when the ball is in motion, it will stay in motion. The ball would eventually slow down it could also be friction that slowd it down. I think that this law can relate to our catapult is when the marshmallow is flying which is in motion, will keep flying but then it eventually stop. It also depends on how much force you put in to see how far and high it can goes. So the second law is: Force= Mass x Acceleration If the object has more mass, then you would have to add more force into the object so in could accelerate faster and longer. An example might be like if we are using a tape role instead of a marshmallow, then we will have to put more force to lift the tape roll onto the air. So, if the object has more mass, then you have to put more force to lift the pbject into the air. This law can connect to our catspults by knowing how much force we are supposed to pull the marshmallow back and release the marshmallow and land in the 4rth tile. So the third law is : For every actiion there is an equal and oppsipte reaction. For example, if a basketball push on the ground it is an action, and when the basketball bounce up, then that is the reaction of thr ground. I think this can relate to catapults because if we didnt put the right amount of force in the spoon to release the marshmallow over the chair. What if our marshmallow hits the chair? that is the action ( when the marshmallow hits the chair) and the reaction is the marshmallow can just fall on the ground. So, today was our first day to learn in Science. Not, really the first day but the first day after we learned all about the vocabulary words tobe exact. But in D.E.A.R time, we watched about catapults. We watched a video to see how force and motion is related to catapult. First, when I heard Riley screaming out the word, I didn't know what a catapult even is. But then, after I watched the video I learned about it. So, then we had these different materials to actually build a catapult.We had to asnwer some questions for our reflection. So, here is my reflection:
What did your team try to do? My team tried to build a base then, they put two sticks toghther and then we would put a spoon on top and then we use a rubber band and hold the spoon down and when we put on the marshmellow. Then, we would release the rubber band and the marshmellow would be flying over the chair. We thought that wouldn't work on our first try so we made more plans. How well do you think it went? Well, we planned everything out and it didn't work out as we planned. And some of my team mates were not getting a long w=as well as I imagined it would turned out. So, I didn't think we cooperated well as a team and how we are supposed to. So, I don't think it went very smooth or well. What should you be doing next time? I think next time we should have better cooperation. Also next time, I think we should have other plans too. If like we mess up on this plan, we can use another plan just to help us. Next time we should also have a better sketch. To improve, in my opinion we should talk and communicate with each other better too. So,in our class we have been doign these blog reflections for each subject. Since, we didn't learn Science last Quarter we can't write a reflection. But this reflection is to review my health plan.
1st goal: Is to exercise Did I achieve it? Yes I did I am changing my life style, so I am exercising. 2nd goal: A good diet Did I achieve it? Yes I did, I am eating much healthier and ditching the soda drinks fast food. 3rd goal: Eating vegetable Did I achieve it? yes I did I did eat vegetables when I am eating lunch. 4rth goal: Playing Basket ball Did I achieve it? : Yes I did I do play basketball some times in the morning. I do in the morning. 5th goal: Yoga Did I achieve it? yes I did I used my dad's mat to do some yoga in the morning. 6th Goal: Having swimming lesson Did I achieve it? No, I din't she said we are too busy to learn swimming lessons. 7th Goal: Lowering Risk of having High Blood Pressure Did I achieve it? Yes, I did because I ate less salty and I am eating less salty food. So, I did achieve this goal. 8th Goal: Avoiding fat food: Did I achieve it? Yes and No because I did in the beginning and I kind of ate some fat food because I was hungry and there was nothing to eat at my house. 9th Goal: Reading Labels Did I achieve it? Yes, i have because I always want to know the calories. So, I have a healthy diet. Because I have been watching this video from this lady on YouTube, she have been teaching me how to balance my diet. So, all in all I have been keeping track of my health plan. Expect having swimming lessons. So, I am really happy about what I am doing to my new self. I really hope that when I grow up, I would still keep track of my health plan so I won't have high blood pressure when I grow up or like a get older and start having all those sicknesses. In my presentation, I did talk about we were doing before I just start talking about high blood pressure. And I also have a home page that talks about it. When I was watching my presentation I realized that I WAS making eye contact with the audience.So, I was talking and making eye contact with my classmates. I didn't read off the pressentation. I knew that because I was practacing at home and in the presentation, I read the paragraph, then I started to talk about it.I was reading a little bit from the causes vecause it was too long to memorize it. So, I read from there. But I think that I didn't read from the others because I memorized it. I didn't speak loudly accourding to MS.Kristi's video. But, I think that I did speak very clearly. I think that my paste of speaking was normal. Not too slow, not too fast either. I think that I did have those healpful pictures that help the class. So, I did stop and talk about the pictures the last few pages.I did not stop and explain for the first few ones. I didn't think that I moved around OR intteract with my classmates in my presentation. Which I think is really boring.Yes, I did use some hand postures to help the class learn a little bit better I think. I did practice for the presentation because I don't want to make my presentaion boring to the classmates. But the thing is, I didn't make a plan of any sort yet. I put my lines in little paper that I flip throught and memorize. That is how I practice for my presentation. I think that next time I would practice the same thing as this presetation because this presesntation works out really well.
So this website is about high blood pressure. It is my health plan that I chose. Others can choose others too. But I chose high blood pressure because that is the most pasted in my family medical history. So, I have been researching about what is high blood pressure, some causes, some affects and my health plan. So, I can lower the risk of having high blood pressure.
